Jacquard Fabrics
The Jacquard fabrics and process are named after their French inventor, Joseph Marie Jacquard (1752 - 1834). He recognized that although weaving was intricate, it was repetitive, and saw that a mechanism could be developed for the production of sophisticated patterns. (Similar ideas were pursued by others before 1750, but Jacquard perfected and popularized the concept by about 1803.)
Jacquard weaving makes possible in almost any loom the programmed raising of each warp thread independently of the others. This brings much greater versatility to the weaving process, and offers the highest level of warp yarn control. This mechanism is probably one of the most important weaving inventions as Jacquard shedding made possible the automatic production of unlimited varieties of pattern weaving. |

Jacquard and Pique fabrics are ideal for formal and protective tablecloths.
Our cotton Jacquard tablecloths are treated with Teflon to prevent stains and spillages to get into the fibre and make laundering easy and efficient.
Acrylic coated Jacquard cloths give you complete stain protection and low maintenance wipe over care.
We have rectangular, oval, square and round Jacquard tablecloths to suit tables of any size and shape. |

We joined two pieces of Auriol pique fabric to make this large round tablecloths. A runner covers the join on the reverse of the cloth (red side) so that the cloth can be used on both sides.

All cotton and poly-cotton Jacquard fabrics are machine washable on gentle cycle and warm water, no tumble drying, dry cleanable.
Acrylic coated Jacquard fabrics are not dry cleanable and can only be ironed on the back.

PIQUE fabrics: |
Woven, machine quilted, poly-cotton (70% cotton, 30% polyester) fabrics
These fabrics are up to 270 cm (106") wide, ideal for large, heavy cloths, under cloths and decorator cloths. Perfect as well for card table tablecloths since the pique quilted fabrics are very comfortable to the touch and protective for the tables.
Machine washable on gently cycle and 30o C, Dry Cleaning recommended.
The Pique fabrics make beautiful bedspreads but are also used for table mats or long draping cloths for the dressing of formal tables.
